The handbook is created by the Methodological-Pedagogical Centre (in Slovak Metodicko-pedagogické centrum; The Methodological and Pedagogical Center is a budgetary organization of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic. Through three regional and six branch offices it provides continuous education in accredited educational programs and carries out attestations of pedagogical staff and professional staff of schools and school facilities. In accordance with the needs of regional education, it carries out professional seminars, conferences, performs professional-methodological, consulting and advisory activities. See: https://mpc-edu.sk/). The book is focused on the promotion of analytical skills of students through activities using various methods of analysing texts. The authors use especially texts from classical Slovak authors like P. O. Hviezdoslav or M. Kukučín and focus not just on the analysis from the point of view of literature but also on ethical aspects such as altruism, empathy and so on.
