The main objectives of this sequence of lessons are that the students get to know and use basic concepts from medical ethics and that they gain some insight into the complexity of the issues medical ethics have to deal with.

Aims and objectives
Content
The main contents of this sequence are:
- Kant's categorical imperative and human dignity;
- the Code of Medical Ethics (American model);
- the basic ideas of consequentialism;
- specific topics of medical ethics (e.g. abortion, neuroenhancement, transgene animals, assisted suicide, human cloning).
Learning activities
Learning activities comprise e.g. class discussion, analysing primary texts, presentations, drawing up portfolios, research (internet and library), partner work.
